At Zeelandia UK, the health and wellbeing of our employees is a key part of our corporate social responsibility.
Each year we explore new initiatives that can support both mental and physical health of our team members, which has included the likes of seated yoga and wellness catch-ups.
During Men’s Health Awareness month in November, we hosted a special lunch and learn session at our Colchester and Wigan sites, in collaboration with Healthwatch Essex and Andy's Man Club.
For the Colchester event, Scott Tatum of Healthwatch Essex Engagement Manager shared his own lived experience of living with mental health, while highlighting how the organisation our supporting health and wellness through the Fella’s Forum.
Shawn Leek, Director of the Mental Health Runner, discussed his story and how physical activity can offer escapism, while Darren Crouchman, Community Engagement Manager of the Robin Cancer Trust, opened up about his cancer journey, and the importance of checking for the signs of testicular and ovarian cancer.
Andrew Taylor, Zeelandia UK NPD Manager who visited the lunch and learn, said;
“On behalf of all of team, I’d like to say a massive thank you to Scott, Shawn and Darren who each delivered honest, informative presentations which were not only eye-opening to the team, but created needed conversation and discussion around the importance of our health and mental wellbeing.”
Scott Tatum of Healthwatch Essex, said;
“It was fantastic to collaborate with our friends at The Robin Cancer Trust and The Mental Health Runner to deliver an impactful lived experience lunch and learn for Zeelandia. Highlighting our journeys and the support available was so important to show the men that talking about our physical and mental wellbeing is so important. It is so refreshing to see the amazing wellbeing offer that Zeelandia provide for their staff, and we hope that information given on the day coupled with that support will help the men thrive in regard to their wellbeing”
